Congress is currently considering the Deep Sea Coral Protection Act, a bill to protect long-lived, slow-growing deep sea coral beds from being devastated by trawlers.
These corals are the old-growth forests of the ocean -- and they are in danger of being clear-cut unless action is taken to protect them.
